Tenants

As part of our contract with owners/operators, Habitat Services monitors the required standards and services. This Tenant Guide outlines those standards and services in Habitat-funded Boarding Homes.

Each home is assigned a Residential Services Inspector (RSI) that is the main point of contact for Tenants if they have questions or concerns. The Tenant Guide also includes the Tenant Complaint Procedure (page 10) and Boarding Home Staff Code of Conduct (page 9).

Tenant House Meetings occur at minimum of once per quarter, some times more. They are organized by the Housing Support Teams (Site Support) and are an opportunity to discuss programming, outings, and give feedback on the standards and services. The RSI will also occasionally attend Tenant House Meetings as a guest to get feedback and provide information.

Tenants living in Habitat-funded homes are Tenants of the owner/operator (not Habitat Services). The owner/operator is your landlord. Tenants living in Habitat-funded homes have rights under the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA). If you have questions or feel your rights under the RTA have been breached, you may contact the Landlord and Tenant Board at 416-645-8080 or visit the website.
